Welcome

Welcome to my ever-evolving blog. It started out as a blog on Beachbody workouts and products, mainly when I was a Beachbody coach. I no longer coach, not because I don't believe in Beachbody's programs (I subscribe to Beachbody on Demand and use their workouts every day), I am just not a salesperson and hated that aspect of it. I am more than willing to answer questions about my experiences with their products and the various workouts, and I feel freer to do so without the appearance of giving a biased review of something.

I have also started adding reviews for various things I have purchased like movies, books, CDs, and other products. This was brought about by a fight with Amazon in which all of my reviews were removed over a completely bullshit allegation that I posted a review that violated their terms of service. After going back and forth with the morons in the community-reviews department (even after they admitted that my posts did not violate their guidelines) they restored my account (which took them six months to do), but I have been posting my reviews on my blog to have them preserved in case something like that happens again. And here, I will post uncensored reviews so I will swear from time to time and post reviews that may be longer than Amazon's character limit. Everything I post here on any topic or product is my personal opinion, and I take no compensation for any product reviews I post. I am a member of Amazon's vine program and because I get those products for free, I keep those reviews on Amazon only, but everything I have purchased with my own money, whether from Amazon or some other store/website/outlet, I will post here.

I also plan to do some longer blog posts on various topics, such as how to learn physics, how to get through calculus, and longer reviews of workout programs as I do them. Basically, whatever strikes me as interesting at the time.  As you can see if you navigate around the blog, I had many years in between postings. During that time I was going back to school to get an engineering degree, and learning material that I avoided my first time through college was a different experience and one that gave me a lot of insight into how to do well in those classes, which I will try to impart here for those who are looking to get a science or engineering degree.

Product Review: WORX WX082L 4V ZipSnip Cordless Electric Scissors

This is definitely good for cutting thin things like wrapping paper, mesh (like screen material), etc. Basically, it can cut through anything that is relatively thin. It is not good for cutting stuff like thicker, cardboard, or anything much thicker than a couple of sheets of paper. But, for what it can cut, especially for long straight cuts that may be needed, it is much faster and easier than using scissors.

Product Review: RIYCUOWT Damaged Screw Extractor

I got this because I had three braces for large floating shelves that had screws with stripped heads in them. I was able to use these to get some, but not all, of them out. If the head is damaged too much, these will not get them out. But, if they are not, these work as advertised. It is important that you have the drill in reverse at all times when you are using these otherwise it will not work to get the screws out.

Product Review: Ryobi 4-Volt QuickTurn Lithium-Ion Cordless 1/4 in. Hex Screwdriver Kit

This is a Ryobi cordless screwdriver. It does not have the power of a drill or impact driver, so it is definitely intended for smaller uses like installing hardware on cabinets or doors, or things akin to that. One great thing is that it can either be configured as a long, straight piece, or you can turn the base so that it is configured more like a drill, so if you need to use it at a more awkward angle, you can. While I would not say that you can use it in place of a regular screwdriver in every situation, you can do so in many. One thing to note, much like an impact driver, you have to use the screwdriver heads that have the hex ends. Double-sided screwdriver bits will not work on this. Overall, it is definitely a good value for the money.

Product Review: WORKPRO Premium 6.5” Screw Extractor Pliers (Combination Pliers)

I used this to get screws off of a vent in one of my bathrooms. The screws had been painted over, the ends were very worn, and I could not get them to move with a regular screwdriver. This removed them in seconds. I just used the end of the pliers to grab each screw and turn it a few times until I could get it to the point where I could get the screw out by hand. This also has a small wire cutter that works, but it is not necessarily something that would be my go-to for cutting wire. But, for removing screws that will not move with a screwdriver, this absolutely works.

Product Review: Hinge Outlet Satin Nickel Wood Screws for Hinges

I got these because the hinges on my bathroom door were coming loose because the screws that came with the hinges were too short, and did not hold the hinges in place. These are twice as long as those screws and work as they should. No complaints aside from the fact that it would be nice if it came in a larger pack.

Product Review: Hakko-CHP-170 Micro Cutter - Red

These are very good for smaller wires, like those that may be used in jewelry making or for wires that you would use on a circuit board (as well as clipping off the terminal ends of resistors, capacitors, inductors, or the like, after soldering them onto a circuit board). Because the clippers are small and very low-profile, it is good for making very clean cuts against edges so you do not have the ends of wires sticking out where you do not want them. They are, of course, a lot better than trying to use scissors and give you more control than the wire cutters that are included in the jaws of pliers, especially for fine jobs. Definitely a good pickup.
