Welcome

Welcome to my ever-evolving blog. It started out as a blog on Beachbody workouts and products, mainly when I was a Beachbody coach. I no longer coach, not because I don't believe in Beachbody's programs (I subscribe to Beachbody on Demand and use their workouts every day), I am just not a salesperson and hated that aspect of it. I am more than willing to answer questions about my experiences with their products and the various workouts, and I feel freer to do so without the appearance of giving a biased review of something.

I have also started adding reviews for various things I have purchased like movies, books, CDs, and other products. This was brought about by a fight with Amazon in which all of my reviews were removed over a completely bullshit allegation that I posted a review that violated their terms of service. After going back and forth with the morons in the community-reviews department (even after they admitted that my posts did not violate their guidelines) they restored my account (which took them six months to do), but I have been posting my reviews on my blog to have them preserved in case something like that happens again. And here, I will post uncensored reviews so I will swear from time to time and post reviews that may be longer than Amazon's character limit. Everything I post here on any topic or product is my personal opinion, and I take no compensation for any product reviews I post. I am a member of Amazon's vine program and because I get those products for free, I keep those reviews on Amazon only, but everything I have purchased with my own money, whether from Amazon or some other store/website/outlet, I will post here.

I also plan to do some longer blog posts on various topics, such as how to learn physics, how to get through calculus, and longer reviews of workout programs as I do them. Basically, whatever strikes me as interesting at the time.  As you can see if you navigate around the blog, I had many years in between postings. During that time I was going back to school to get an engineering degree, and learning material that I avoided my first time through college was a different experience and one that gave me a lot of insight into how to do well in those classes, which I will try to impart here for those who are looking to get a science or engineering degree.

Product Review: 4K HDMI Cable 10 ft - Atevon High Speed 18Gbps HDMI 2.0 Cable

When I remodeled my townhouse I switched out my old wood-burning fireplace with a gas fireplace. I decided to mount my TV above the fireplace on the drywall bump out where the gas insert is mounted. I got this to run through the drywall from the side of the bump-out to the front where the TV is mounted so I did not have to run a cable down the wall and around the corner to plug it into a Roku or blu-ray player. The cable is a perfect length to go through the wall and has enough length on either end to easily reach the HDMI ports on the TV and place a device at the other end where you want it. So, if you are looking to do something like that, I highly recommend this cable.

Product Review: Fitbit Alta HR Charging Cable

The charger for the Alta and Alta HR will likely break down eventually and they are not like other charging cables that use a mico-USB connection. This charger has prongs that have to connect to the back of the Alta HR, that do break off or lose a good connection over time. This is the official Fitbit cable and is a bit more expensive than the knockoff cables, but I have seen reviews of some of the cheaper cables that cause the units to go haywire. And, Fitbit is very particular about what they will not warranty and what will void the warranty on the Fitbit, so it is best to use their cable.

Product Review: PWR+ 6.5 Ft Samsung-Galaxy-Tab Table

I have one of the old Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets which has a 30-pin connector. The charging cable that came with it is starting to break down, so I got this to replace it. The tablet recognized it right away, and the cable charged it normally. Since this is one of the Samsung products found to infringe on Apple's products, it is no longer supported so having an off-brand replacement cable available is great.

Product Review: Zeskit Cinema Plus 4K 3ft High Speed with Ethernet 22.28Gbps HDMI 2.0b Cable

This is a great inexpensive high-speed HDMI cable. If you do not have a 4k UHD player you do not really need this kind, but if you do, then it will give you a great picture and sound without breaking the bank. Just keep in mind this is a 3-foot cable, so you will need to keep your player relatively close to the TV, projector, or receiver you are plugging this into. But, if you are looking for a high-speed cable, this is a good, inexpensive option.

Product Review: Amazon Basics 6 foot HDMI Cable

I bought this to hook up a UHD blu-ray to an LG 4K TV. It is a great, inexpensive cable (especially when compared to the cost of ones in box stores) that provides great sound and picture. I have not had issues with either the cable or the picture from the 4k player to the TV since using this to play several 4k discs over the past couple of years. 6 feet is the perfect length for the setup I have, and I think will be fine for most people. I definitely recommend it for those looking for a high-speed HDMI cable.

Product Review: DisplayPort to VGA Adapter, Benfei DP DisplayPort to VGA 6 Feet Cable Male to Male Gold-Plated Cord

I got this because I have an older VGA monitor that has a serial port connection on the other end. This has a VGA on one end and a display port connector (not USB) on the other. So if your computer does not have a display port connection, you will need to get a display port to USB adaptor. They have them on Amazon, but none at a reasonable price, so you may want to shop around.

Once I got the second adaptor this worked great to allow for another monitor for my laptop. This would be perfect if had a USB connection on the other as an alternative to the display port connection so you did not have to get another connector to use it if your computer does not already have a display port connection. That knocks it down a star for me, but otherwise, it works well.
