Welcome

Welcome to my ever-evolving blog. It started out as a blog on Beachbody workouts and products, mainly when I was a Beachbody coach. I no longer coach, not because I don't believe in Beachbody's programs (I subscribe to Beachbody on Demand and use their workouts every day), I am just not a salesperson and hated that aspect of it. I am more than willing to answer questions about my experiences with their products and the various workouts, and I feel freer to do so without the appearance of giving a biased review of something.

I have also started adding reviews for various things I have purchased like movies, books, CDs, and other products. This was brought about by a fight with Amazon in which all of my reviews were removed over a completely bullshit allegation that I posted a review that violated their terms of service. After going back and forth with the morons in the community-reviews department (even after they admitted that my posts did not violate their guidelines) they restored my account (which took them six months to do), but I have been posting my reviews on my blog to have them preserved in case something like that happens again. And here, I will post uncensored reviews so I will swear from time to time and post reviews that may be longer than Amazon's character limit. Everything I post here on any topic or product is my personal opinion, and I take no compensation for any product reviews I post. I am a member of Amazon's vine program and because I get those products for free, I keep those reviews on Amazon only, but everything I have purchased with my own money, whether from Amazon or some other store/website/outlet, I will post here.

I also plan to do some longer blog posts on various topics, such as how to learn physics, how to get through calculus, and longer reviews of workout programs as I do them. Basically, whatever strikes me as interesting at the time.  As you can see if you navigate around the blog, I had many years in between postings. During that time I was going back to school to get an engineering degree, and learning material that I avoided my first time through college was a different experience and one that gave me a lot of insight into how to do well in those classes, which I will try to impart here for those who are looking to get a science or engineering degree.

Product Review: SAMSICHI Bidet Toilet Attachment

I have heard for years that people who have bidets love them. A family member suggested I get one for my aging mother who was having trouble cleaning after going to the bathroom, so I was looking for one that was simple to use (which this absolutely is) and relatively inexpensive.

The bidet attaches to any standard toilet, as long as you have enough space between the toilet and the walls. It is very easy to hook up, and the instructions are very clear. The first toilet I installed it on has a grab bar attachment that also connects between the toilet seat and the base of the toilet. This was able to be installed along with the bar attachment without a problem, and the instructions to hook it up to the water line are very clear. It comes with a nice quality hose and connectors, and I have had no issues with water leaking from any of the attachment points.

This is very simple to operate. There are just four buttons, one to clean the nozzle, one for a rear wash, one for a feminine wash, and an off button. The dial on the side will increase or decrease the intensity of the spray. The only thing to note is that after you push one of the buttons, it does not shut off by itself. It will keep spraying (or cleaning the nozzles) until you push the stop button.  My mom liked it so much and hyped it up enough that I got a second one for myself.  It is absolutely worth the money, and I absolutely recommend it.

Product Review: Clorox Ultra Clean Toilet Tablets Bleach & Blue

These are tabs that drop into the top of the toilet tank. They last around a month, give or take before you need to replace them. Initially, your toilet water will be dark blue and then it gets lighter over time. Personally, I use these in conjunction with the toilet wand that uses the heads with cleaner on it, and the combination of the two makes cleaning the interior of the toilet much easier.

Product Review: Dial Complete Foaming Antibacterial Hand Wash, Soothing White Tea

This is an antibacterial soap that smells nice, does not leave your hands dried out, and will last anywhere from a couple of weeks to a month, depending on how many people are using it, and how often. I used it in my master bathroom, and it was just me using it, and it lasted the better part of a month (3+ weeks). If you can get your hands on some, it is worth the pickup.

Product Review: Glacier Bay Irena 4" Bathroom Faucet

My old bathroom faucet, which was probably original to when my townhouse was built in the early 1970s started leaking and needed to be replaced. I went with this due to the low price, and so far, I am satisfied with it. It is sturdy and outputs a good stream of water. The model I have comes with a drain plug that you push down to fill the sink and does not have a pull on the back of the faucet spout.  The handles turn toward the front to turn the water on and then back to the side to turn it off. I feel that the handles are very sturdy and, as long as you do not crank on them with a lot more force than normal, it does not seem that they will somehow break. It is a decent-looking faucet but is certainly not as fancy-looking as the more expensive models out there. But, if you are looking for a good, inexpensive faucet, this is a good option.

Product Review: Sumnacon 16 Inch Bath Grab Bar

I installed mine into drywall just outside the tub/shower. At the time, I had a shower with the sliding glass doors which made it a bit of a pain to step out of the tub without something to hold on to. This is relatively easy to install, with the caveat that you may not have instructions in the box, but one of the pictures in the item description on Amazon shows you exactly what to do. You will need a wrench or nut driver, a drill, a hammer (if you are using the drywall anchors), and a Phillips head screwdriver. I used the drill to get all but one of the screws in, so, all in all, it took me about 20 minutes to install. I can pull on it with all my body weight (I'm about 215 lbs) and it does not move or come loose at all. I had considered getting one with the suction ends, but all the reviews I saw, even for the more highly rated and more expensive ones, mentioned them losing suction at some point. This definitely feels very safe, the issue with the lack of in-the-box instructions aside, I definitely recommend it.

Product Review: WONGJON Soap Holder Self Draining Soap Dish Holder

If you are one of those people who still uses a bar of soap (e.g., for washing your face, before shaving, or the like) this is a great way to store it on your sink without the inevitable mess that comes after you use it a couple of times. This has a base that sits on the edge of the sink and a dish that sits on top of the base with a lip that allows water to drain into the sink. It is not what I would call super-high-end, but it looks nice enough to put in any bathroom without clashing with the decor.
