Welcome

Welcome to my ever-evolving blog. It started out as a blog on Beachbody workouts and products, mainly when I was a Beachbody coach. I no longer coach, not because I don't believe in Beachbody's programs (I subscribe to Beachbody on Demand and use their workouts every day), I am just not a salesperson and hated that aspect of it. I am more than willing to answer questions about my experiences with their products and the various workouts, and I feel freer to do so without the appearance of giving a biased review of something.

I have also started adding reviews for various things I have purchased like movies, books, CDs, and other products. This was brought about by a fight with Amazon in which all of my reviews were removed over a completely bullshit allegation that I posted a review that violated their terms of service. After going back and forth with the morons in the community-reviews department (even after they admitted that my posts did not violate their guidelines) they restored my account (which took them six months to do), but I have been posting my reviews on my blog to have them preserved in case something like that happens again. And here, I will post uncensored reviews so I will swear from time to time and post reviews that may be longer than Amazon's character limit. Everything I post here on any topic or product is my personal opinion, and I take no compensation for any product reviews I post. I am a member of Amazon's vine program and because I get those products for free, I keep those reviews on Amazon only, but everything I have purchased with my own money, whether from Amazon or some other store/website/outlet, I will post here.

I also plan to do some longer blog posts on various topics, such as how to learn physics, how to get through calculus, and longer reviews of workout programs as I do them. Basically, whatever strikes me as interesting at the time.  As you can see if you navigate around the blog, I had many years in between postings. During that time I was going back to school to get an engineering degree, and learning material that I avoided my first time through college was a different experience and one that gave me a lot of insight into how to do well in those classes, which I will try to impart here for those who are looking to get a science or engineering degree.

Product Review: EnviroCare Replacement Duster Refills

These are basically generic Swiffer dusters. They will fit on the Swiffer duster handles, but I do find they are a bit thinner than the name-brand refills and tend to slide up the handles as you use them, so you have to readjust them a bit. They are, however, much less expensive than the name-brand Swiffer refills. Overall, I would say they are worth it.

Product Review: Magnetic Vent Cover 5.5 x 12 Inch - 3 Pack

These magnetic vent covers fit well over floor vent covers and do a good job of eliminating airflow from the vents. However, they will not remain attached to some ceiling vents and can easily fall off those, especially the kind that has a vent control that is like a handle that sticks out from the metal. I am not sure if they would stick better if you have a ceiling vent that you can lay them all the way across, and have them sit flat. But on the kind where it would have to be placed off-set or off-center because the vent control gets in the way, they will easily fall off.

Product Review: Bagster

The main thing to keep in mind is that the $20 price is the price ONLY to purchase the bag. To have it removed you have to schedule a pickup (there is usually a 3-5 day window after you tell them what day it will be available to pick up that they will pick it up within; mine was picked up the day after I said it was available), and that will cost approximately $160. It is a great option if you are cleaning out junk from your house, or doing a room renovation. The bags hold up to 3500 lbs of material, which is a decent amount, but they do not hold a dumpster shape very easily, so it is easy to have stuff kind of spilling over the sides as you are filling it. So, it gets a bit hard to tell if it is too full.

The plus is that it is definitely more maneuverable (at least up to a point) than getting a dumpster dropped off (unless it is a smallish dumpster with wheels), and may (depending on how much junk you need to be removed) may be more cost-effective than a dumpster or a junk hauling service. The drawback is that it is easy to underestimate how much it will hold, and if you need more than a couple of them, then the cost-effectiveness disappears quickly.

Product Review: Sheffield 1282 Gadget Folding Lock Back Utility Knife

I initially used this to cut out my old carpet to make it easier to remove as I was doing the demo on my townhouse before a renovation. Now, I mostly use it to break down boxes from various deliveries. It works great for both of those tasks, is sturdy, and it is nice to have it able to fold up to make it safer to store. I definitely recommend it.

Product Review: Mighty Gadget Brand 3/16" Air Bubble Cushioning Roll

It is a pretty standard bubble wrap, with smaller bubbles. The roll has perforations so you can separate it into smaller or larger sheets, as necessary. The only drawback is that the perforations can be a bit hard to see, especially if you do not have great eyesight. Otherwise, it is very good for a small amount of bubble wrap to keep fragile items safe when you are packing them up.
