This is a soldering iron that allows you to control the heat of the iron and see on an LCD screen, what the current temp is, and allow you to adjust it up or down. It is between the cheap irons and the expensive ones that plug into control units. It is definitely a good deal, especially if you have some experience soldering, but a lot of experience with it.
